(June 13-20 Vacation with son Neil. After we drop his twins off at summer camp in Asheville NC, we’re spending the week in Gettysburg PA. Some terrific father/son time while we get our history fix!)
June 21-24 — Southern Baptist Convention, Louisville, KY (I’ll be sketching people at the Baptist Press booth. Come by and bring the kids!)
June 26-28 Children’s Camp for FBC Double Springs, AL at Camp Lee, Anniston, AL Nikki Shipman is the camp director.
July 11 (Saturday) — dedication of Delacroix Hope Baptist Church, St. Bernard, LA. James “Boogie” Melerine, pastor.
July 13-14 — Lifeway “Sunday School Lesson” Conference at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
August 5 (Wednesday) — Kickoff for Sanctuary Choir, FBC Jackson Mississippi — I’m bringing a devotional, then sketching people! Lavon Gray is the terrific worship leader; Stan Buckley, the pastor.
August 18 (Tuesday) — Quarterly conference of Directors of Missions in Louisiana (Pineville, LA). I’m speaking on the “followup” aspect of Leadership, a neglected aspect to be sure.
August 23 (Sunday) — Preaching at FBC Waggaman, LA. Bobby Malbrough, pastor.
September 9-11 (Wednesday-Friday), a revival (of a certain kind) at FBC Baker, LA. An unusual schedule. John “Bud” Traylor is interim pastor.
September 12 (all day Saturday)– “Ridgecrest on the River” at NOBTS. I’m leading a couple of conferences on leadership. Duane McDaniel is the (incoming) director of missions.
September 13 (Sunday)– preaching at Agape Korean Church in New Orleans for their 15th anniversary. Yong Nam Shin is pastor.
September 26-27 (Saturday/Sunday) — FBC Inman, South Carolina. “Harvest Day Festival” on Saturday (I’m sketching people) and preaching on Sunday morning; prayer walking Sunday evening. Paul Moore is pastor.
October 4-7 (Sun-Wed) — revival at FBC Leakesville, MS. Phillip Price is pastor.
October 9-10 (Friday night/Saturday morning) — Deacon training at Community Baptist Church in Maylene Alabama.
October 11-14 — revival at Community Baptist Church in Maylene. Bo Brown is pastor.
October 18-21 — revival at FBC Lanett, Alabama where Rusty Thomaston is pastor.
November 6-7 — retreat for “Young at Heart” from Annistown Road Baptist Church, Atlanta, at Toccoa, Georgia. Joel Davis (best man in our 1962 wedding!) is the senior adult minister.
November 29 (Sunday evening service) — FBC Brandon, MS. Roy Lively is the senior adult minister.
AND THEN, IN 2010….
February 4-7 (Thursday through Sunday) — revival at FBC Talledega, Alabama (but at the church, not on the track or the infield; some have asked!). Rob Paul is pastor.
February 20-21 “On Mission Celebration” for the Elmore Baptist Association in Alabama. Jim Jackson is the director of missions. (I was DOM in Louisiana for five years, and this will be my very first OMC! I’m excited.)
